One of the most common questions we get asked here at our roofing company is how long a roofing replacement project will take. We understand that homeowners are concerned about the project being completed before bad weather sets in as well as concerned that their home’s appearance will look unsightly.
Good news is, it doesn’t take long to replace a roof — usually the job can be done in a day or two if it’s a standard asphalt roof and there are no protrusions such as skylights, chimneys or solar panels to work around. That being said, the two day standard can vary depending on the following factors:
- Weather. If the weather is rainy or windy, our roofing installation company will not be able to work on replacing the shingles. Asphalt shingles are very flimsy and under very windy conditions may not be installed properly.
- Size and complexity of the home. Our roof replacement specialists will first need to assess your home and take a measurement of the square footage of your roof as well as take note of any protrusions. If the roof is large and quite complicated, the installation process can take longer than one or two days.
- Type of roofing material. For homeowners who are replacing their existing roof with asphalt shingles, the installation project won’t take long. However, any other types of roofing material (metal, slate, wood, etc.) will call for a more complicated and time-consuming installation process.
It’s important to note that the time it takes for a replacement roof should not be a make or break deal; you don’t want a roofing contractor to rush through the process as this can lead to issues down the road. Each installation process is different, and we highly recommend contacting us first so we can give you a free project estimate!
